Six things that distinguish our work
Question-first scoping
Every engagement starts from a business question, not a dataset. This keeps the work grounded and prevents analysis that generates figures without direction.
- Defined scope before any data is touched
- Output tied directly to planning needs
Singapore market calibration
Models are calibrated against local commercial patterns — port activity, public sector cycles, public holidays, and regional purchasing rhythms — not generic global baselines.
- Built-in local seasonal features
- ASEAN regional context considered
Written, shareable deliverables
Findings are delivered as structured documents, not dashboards that require interpretation. Your team can present, circulate, and act on the outputs without ongoing support from us.
- Plain-language findings
- Accessible to non-technical stakeholders
Honest uncertainty ranges
Every forecast includes a stated confidence range. We document what the model does not know, which is often as useful for planning as what it predicts.
- Documented model limitations
- Confidence intervals on all forecasts
Fixed-scope, fixed-price
All three services are priced at a fixed SGD amount. No variable charges based on data volume. The budget is clear before work begins.
- No hidden charges
- Scope changes discussed upfront
Knowledge transfer included
Where models are handed over, we include a walkthrough session. Your team should be able to update outputs and interpret changes without hiring a data scientist for every cycle.
- Handover walkthrough session
- Reduced ongoing dependency
How each advantage plays out in practice
Eight years of applied modelling work
Our team has built forecasting and behaviour models for logistics, retail, financial services, and B2B organisations across Singapore and the wider Southeast Asian region. That experience shapes how we interpret patterns in your data — drawing on comparable cases where similar factors drove similar outcomes.
We do not claim to know your business better than you do. We bring a complementary skill set: we know what patterns in data tend to mean, and how to test whether they are meaningful or coincidental.
Modelling approaches we apply
Methods chosen for your data, not our preferences
We do not have a favourite algorithmic stack that we apply regardless of context. The modelling approach for each engagement is selected based on your data's characteristics — volume, completeness, temporal coverage — and the type of question being answered.
When a simpler model fits the data adequately, we use it. Adding complexity without improving accuracy wastes your budget and makes the outputs harder to explain to your team.
One point of contact, clear communication throughout
From initial scoping to final delivery, you deal with the same person. There is no account manager relaying information between you and the analysts doing the work. This means context is retained and questions get answered directly.
We send a structured progress note at each stage of an engagement, so your team is never waiting without knowing where things stand.
One analyst manages your engagement end-to-end and is directly reachable throughout.
Written update at each engagement milestone, so you always know what is happening and what comes next.
Final outputs presented and explained in a session with your team before the engagement closes.
Service pricing
Access to modelling work without a full data science hire
For most mid-sized Singapore businesses, maintaining an in-house data science function is neither affordable nor necessary. A qualified analyst costs upwards of SGD 80,000 per year — for forecasting needs that may require four to six weeks of work annually.
Telvar's fixed-scope services let you commission analytical work when you need it, at a cost that reflects the actual effort involved — without a retainer or long-term commitment.
How our approach differs
A straightforward comparison with typical alternatives. No organisation is named — these reflect common patterns we hear from teams who have tried other approaches.
| What teams often experience | With other providers | With Telvar |
|---|---|---|
| Deliverable format | Interactive dashboard, requires ongoing access | Written report, owned by your team |
| Pricing model | Monthly retainer or hourly billing | Fixed price per engagement |
| Uncertainty handling | Single point estimate presented as fact | Confidence intervals documented |
| Local market fit | Global methodology, generic seasonality | Calibrated to Singapore commercial patterns |
| Scope management | Scope creep, unexpected additional charges | Agreed scope before work begins |
| Knowledge transfer | Dependency on provider for updates | Handover session, model files provided |
Things we do that most analytics engagements do not
We tell you if your data is not ready
If your data cannot support the analysis you want, we say so before taking your money. The Readiness Check was designed exactly for this. A model built on inadequate data produces outputs that mislead rather than inform.
We document what we do not know
Every report includes a section on the model's limitations — factors not captured, data gaps, conditions under which the forecast may perform poorly. This is not a caveat; it is information your planning team needs.
The engagement ends with your team, not ours
We structure each engagement so your team leaves with the capability to maintain or update the work independently. Creating long-term dependency serves our revenue, not your interests.
Domain knowledge is a required input
We build time into every scoping process to understand the context your data sits in — what your business does, how it operates, what seasonal factors matter. Models calibrated with this context consistently outperform those built without it.
NDA available before data sharing
Organisations that need formal confidentiality in place before transferring data can request a standard NDA at no cost. This is commonly required in regulated industries and we accommodate it without delay.
Three services, not thirty
A narrow service range means deep capability rather than broad marketing. We do not offer services we cannot deliver well, and we do not dilute our focus across areas where we lack genuine depth.

These benefits only materialise
when applied to real work
The right starting point depends on where your data currently stands. An initial conversation is the most direct way to work that out.
